March is “Reading and Music in Our Schools” Month!

There is so much activity taking place this month in celebration of Music and Reading In Our Schools Month.  Have you signed up to be a guest reader in a classroom?

Friday, March 6 was Buddy Reading.  Our elementary and MS students teamed up for some fun reading time together.  Our MS Band and Orchestra Participated in a Music Festival and Clinic at EFHS.  Much was learned and everyone had a great time.

Wednesday, March 11 we all get to camp out in our PJ’s and read.  Parents are welcome to join us in PJ’s, slippers and robes.  Bring along your favorite book.

Classroom doors are being decorated to represent favorite classroom reading material.  Talk a walk through our halls and look at the fantastic door themes.

Monday, March 16 marks the end of the Elementary Book Reading Contest.  Has your child read a book to you lately?  Ask them what they are reading.

Friday, March 20 is Buddy Reading day and  Character Day!  Short Stories written by Middle School students are due on this date.

March 27 is a big day for music fans.  Our 4th and 5th grade students have been busy with Mrs. Reed and Ms. Schemke planning a Vocal Concert with a story book theme.  Honors Choir students will also perform on this date.  We will perform a morning concert at 9:15-10:15 a.m. (MS students will be invited as an audience) and afternoon concert at 1:15-2:15 (3-5 grade students will be invited as an audience).  Parents are welcomed and encouraged to attend either of these performances.

Our month will culminate with a highly favored activity of BINGO FOR BOOKS!  This will take place Tuesday, March 31, 3:30-4:30. More information will be provided soon.

Stop in soon to join us in these exciting events!  Salina Wildcats Rock!
