Dear Salina Parents and Guardians,

As the start of the 2019-20 school year approaches, I would like to proudly welcome your family to Salina Intermediate School.  I hope that you and your family have enjoyed a wonderful summer and are excited about the return to Salina for the new school year. We plan to build upon our success from the last school year.  By working together as a school community, we will continue to have a positive impact in the lives of students attending our school. 

As the new principal of Salina, I am looking forward to meeting and working with you all to ensure that all students are successful.  Over the past 17 years, I have worked as a teacher and administrator.  I have taught for over a decade at Salina teaching both elementary and middle school.  I have coached middle school sports and was an athletic director of the sports program at Salina Intermediate.  Recently, I have had the honor and privilege to work under great school leaders and administrators across the district as an administrative intern at Dearborn High School, Bryant Middle School, and McDonald Elementary.  This past school year, I was the assistant principal of Woodworth Middle School in Dearborn.  I consider my most important job to be that of a child advocate. I will spend a lot of time with your children, getting to know their personalities, learning styles, and interests. I will celebrate their successes, small and large. I will encourage them every day and let them know that they are valued and have a special place in our school community.

Not only am I excited to begin working with your children, but I look forward to the work we will do together. As the old African Proverb states, “It takes a village to raise a child.” I am excited to see your children through your eyes. I cannot wait to share with you the great things they do throughout their days here at Salina. My goal is to ensure that all children are healthy, happy, and safe, so they may learn and achieve as much as they can.

As a proud Salina Alumni, I am honored to continue our school’s tradition of excellence in education.  My own children have attended and two are currently attending Salina.  This is a school that truly puts students first!
