Dearborn Schools has launched the Mobile Apps for Parents (QParentConnection) and Students (QStudentConnection); they are available for Android and iOS, can be downloaded from Google Play and Apple App store, and they include similar functionality as the desktop version. In Dearborn, we launched them on Monday 12/2/2019. Once downloaded, Parents and Students will choose the following to setup the app: State = Michigan, County = Wayne, District = Dearborn Public Schools.
Parents and students login using their MIStar pin/password and for parents we have added Links on the screen so that they can request their pin/password be emailed to them, just like in the desktop version. In addition, We have introduced a new feature for both Mobile App and Desktop version that allows parents to report absences for their students (information below); in the future, we are reviewing as well the possibility of launching the Online Summer Registration/Emergency Forms Updates through the Mobile App.

Once they click on Report Absence, a sample screen shown below will display where it lists all their students; parents can then choose to enter attendance for the whole day or only for a specific length of time, for one student or multiple students. We will be providing parents with 6 Reasons to choose from that are mapped to MIStar attendance codes, but schools can choose to change them when posting individual attendance: Bereavement (will be mapped to E-Excused as a default) Doctor Appointment (will be mapped to E-Excused as a default) Family Emergency (will be mapped to E-Excused as a default) Sick (will be mapped to E-Excused as a default) Vacation (will be mapped to E-Excused as a default) Late (will be mapped to G-Late Excused as a default)
