Dear Parents of 8th grade students,
Your child will be going to high school next year and the district allows students to test out of certain subjects. This means they will take a test and if they pass with a C or higher they can receive high school credit for this course and be able to take the next course after that. The test out exams administered by Dearborn Public Schools have been created to meet state guidelines. The exams cover the entire course content that the student would see in a regular high school course. The exams are designed to be comprehensive and rigorous. Students who do not have a complete understanding of the course content should not attempt the exam because they are unlikely to pass. Courses that your child can test out of are any of the four core content areas (ELA, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Biology, US economics, US Government, US History). They may also test out of a foreign language class (Arabic, Spanish, German, French). If you wish for your child to test out of any of these classes please send me an email or call me and I will sign them up for the test. You are responsible for taking your child to the Dearborn Public Schools Administrative Center on May 28th at 3:30 (for Core Subject test outs) and May
29th at 3:30 (for foreign language test outs). I will send you a reminder. Thank you.
