What: 8th grade orientation starts at 6 pm.
Where: Edsel Ford HS
Note: There will be a bus to pick up parents and 8th students today Wednesday March 15 around 5:30 in front of Salina Int.
We will arrive back to Salina Int around 8pm.
Student are not allowed on the bus without a parent or an adult.
We recommend all parents and students to attend this important orientation.
“Parents of nine- and ten-year old students:
Today your child will bring home a packet of information from the University of Michigan regarding a landmark effort called the Adolescent Brain and Cognitive Development (ABCD) study. Over 10,000 nine- and ten-year-old children across the country will join this study, supported by the American School Health Association and National Institutes of Health.
The UM requests your voluntary participation in this project.
I encourage you to read the information and consider being part of this important study with your child. Participants will be paid for their time, up to $400 per year. If you are interested, use the postage paid envelope in the packet or go to Salina Intermediate ABCD to submit a response card.

Welcome to “March is Reading”month at Salina Intermediate. We have many exciting reading activities planned this month. Students should also celebrate reading each evening by reading for at least 30 minutes with an adult. Parents, make it a point to read with your children and discuss the book, article or magazine. Students can even use their computer and read their good fit books online. M-Step testing will begin soon. Below is the schedule by grade level for this online assessment:
The testing window for grades 5th, 8th and 11th will be from April 10th-May 5th. The window for grades 3rd, 4th, 6th, and 7th will be from May 1st– May 26th. Students in grades 3rd-8th will be taking the M-Step English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics. In addition, Science for grades 4th and 7th and Social Studies for grades 5th and 8th.
